Transfers Done Deal: Nottingham Forest complete signing of Elanga

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of forward Anthony Elanga from Manchester United.

In a statement on their official website, the Premier League club said: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of forward Anthony Elanga from Manchester United,” adding: “The Sweden international has signed a five-year deal, keeping him at The City Ground until the summer of 2028.”

Manchester United also confirmed his exit by saying: “Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has joined Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis. The homegrown Academy product rose through the ranks at the club and earned the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award in 2020.”

On signing for Forest, Elanga said: “It’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a proud moment, not only for me but for my family as well. It’s the perfect next step for me in my career, it’s a big step and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at The City Ground. I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place.”

He added: “I’ve been here with United, and from the minute I stepped out for the warm-up, I could hear them from the changing room. It’s a special place, but being here with Forest, I feel like it will be even more special. I’m really ready for the challenge and I just want to embrace everything and get to work.”

Elanga made his senior debut towards the end of the 2020-21 season, in the Premier League game against Leicester City at Old Trafford. He followed it up with 16 appearances across all competitions in 2022-23, including both legs of the Europa League ties with Sevilla, with the away game being his last before this move.
