Friendly Erik ten Hag rates Andre Onana’s Man United debut vs Real Madrid

Andre Onana Erik ten Hag

Manchester United Erik ten Hag gave an honest opinion on Andre Onana’s performance during his debut against Real Madrid earlier on Thursday.

The 27-year old conceded two goals in his debut with the Red Devils.

However, Onana showed a lot of composure and assurance but could not prevent any of Jude Bellingham nor Joselu’s goals as they were absolutely class.

But that goals did not prevent his coach Erik ten Hag from praising him after the 0-2 loss against Real Madrid.

“I think he was good, solid”, the Dutch manager said after the game, as per The Mirror.

“He made two very good saves, so he was there in the moment the team needed him, he did his job, he integrated well in our team.

“This is the first game [with Onana] and we have a lot of work to do, on the defending part. For the second goal, we were not close at the back post, and it can’t be that a goal can come there.

“There are rules we have to follow, but they will come quickly in the way that we integrate them into our way of play.”

Man United will take on Borussia Dortmund on Monday for another pre-season friendly.
