FIBA FIBA Women’s Championship: D’Tigress Beat DR Congo In Kigali

With a victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team D’Tigress got off to a solid start in the 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasketball Championship in Kigali, Rwanda.

A few days ago, the Reno Wakama-coached team travelled to Kigali for the final to defend their title.

They had a scorching start to their first game against the Democratic Republic of the Congo, winning the first period 16-8.

They maintained their domination in the second quarter and, by winning 29-18, were able to neutralise the Congolese offensive danger.

With a decisive third-quarter score of 46-32, the D’Tigress proved to be too much for their opponent.

Another thrilling performance by the Nigerian team in the fourth quarter helped them win decisively, 69-35.

On Sunday, Nigeria’s second group game will take place against Egypt.
