UEFA Champions League UEFA Condemns AEK Anthens Horrific Incident

UEFA expresses its deepest condolences for the horrific events that occurred in Athens last night and claimed a life.

We would like to underline that violence has no place in our sport and that we expect those guilty to be apprehended and brought to justice in the shortest amount of time possible, while also offering our sincere condolences to the victim’s family, AEK Athens FC, and its supporters.

The prerequisites for tonight’s encounter between AEK Athens FC and GNK Dinamo are not met, according to UEFA, which made this decision after reviewing the incidents from yesterday and consulting with the local authorities.

The game that was scheduled to take place tonight at the Agia Sofia Stadium in Athens is now postponed in accordance with article 26.01 of the Regulations of the UEFA Champions League 2023/24.

As anticipated, the game between AEK Athens FC (GRE) and GNK Dinamo (CRO) will take place in Zagreb on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 10:00 CET.

The postponed game between AEK Athens FC (GRE) and GNK Dinamo (CRO) will now take place on Saturday, August 19, 2023, with kickoff planned for 20:45 CET (21:45 local time).

Both games will continue to follow the previously announced decision to not allow away fans, and all required steps will be taken.
