Saudi Arabia Ighalo Sets To Join Another Saudi Arabia Club Al-Wehda

Following the expiration of his contract with Al-Hilal, Odion Ighalo is expected to sign for Al-Wehda, another Saudi club, on a free transfer.

Despite thriving for the Blues last season and scoring 19 goals in 27 games, Ighalo, 34, has been a free agent since his contract with Al-Hilal expired in July.

The Nigerian striker has been competing in Saudi Arabia since joining Al-Shabab from Chinese side SH Shenhua in February 2021. He has scored 52 goals in 71 games for both Al-Shabab and Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

This made him a target for several Gulf teams, but Ighalo decided to stay in Saudi Arabia and sign with Al-Wehda, becoming their first high-profile signing of the summer.

Ighalo is en route to Mecca to finalise his agreement with Al-Wehda, who were 13th last season, according to a Saudi news source, Ariyadhiah.

The Saudi Super Cup will include Al-Wehda, the third-oldest club in the country, who also advanced to the 2023 King Cup final against Al-Hilal.

Ighalo, who played in the league with Al-Hilal, will bring a wealth of experience to Al-Wehda.

The former Manchester United player has completed his medical and it is left for him to sign the dotted lines.
