AFCON Osimhen Hits Hat Trick As Nigeria Wallop Sao Tome

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen was once again the star as he scored a hat trick following Nigeria 6-0 thumping of Sao Tome.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria raced to another convincing victory over Sao Tome & Principe, advancing to the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The host team, playing at the Goodswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, controlled play as was to be expected, and they were able to score the first goal through Osimhen in the 14th minute.

Ademola Lookman, a winger for Italian club Atalanta, extended Nigeria’s advantage in the 28th minute, ensuring that the home team entered the locker room with a commanding lead.

Nigeria continued to dominate the game as the second half began, and in the 52nd minute, forward Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest made it 3-0.

As Samuel Chukwueze of Milan completed the rout in the 86th minute of the game, the Napoli player turned the game on its head by scoring the fourth goal from the penalty spot and completing his hat trick later in the game.
