Tanzania Azam FC topple Simba SC after beating Coastal Union

Azam FC leapfrogged Simba SCat the helm of the Tanzanian Premier League table after a 1-0 win over Coastal Union at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga on Friday.

Feisal Salum netted the solitary goal to help the Ice Cream overtake the Wekundu wa Msimbazi at the summit. It was Feisal’s fourth goal of the campaign as he continues to be lethal in front of the goal.

With the results, Azam moved to 13 points, one point above second-placed Simba. The Wekundu wa Msimbazi had moved top of the log following their 3-1 victory against Tanzania Prisons at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya on Thursday. In an early match on Friday, Tabora United roared from behind to outclass Dodoma Jiji 2-1 at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora.

On Saturday, league actions continue as Geita Gold welcomes champions Young Africans (Yanga SC) at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza. Also, KMC will host Ihefu at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
