Tanzania Simba SC ‘breaks’ Tanzania Prisons to move top of the table

Simba SC regained the top spot of the Tanzanian Premier League table after defeating Tanzania Prisons 3-1 at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya on Thursday.

On target for the Wekundu wa Msimbazi were Clatous Chama, John Bocco, and Saido Ntibazonkiza who netted via a late spot-kick. The hosts had taken an early goal through Edwin Balua whose set-piece was too hot for Simba’s goalie Ally Salum.

Following the triumph, the Reds have 12 points from four games, the only team with a one hundred percent record this season. Up next, Simba will play Singida Big Stars at Liti Stadium in Singida on Sunday. Meanwhile, after being held to a 0-0 draw by Dodoma Jiji, Azam Assistant coach Bruno Ferry said they picked the positives from the game that will help them to do well in their next Premier League ties.

The late kick-off match at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma on Tuesday evening produced no goals to split the duo as each side walked away with one point in their bags. It was the first draw for Azam in the progressing campaign as their three-game winning spree hit a rock while for Dodoma Jiji, they registered a second draw in four matches of the season.

Azam have 10 points from four matches while the capital city envoys cherish five points, also generated from four assignments after winning one of them.
