Friendly Super Eagles Beat Mozambique To Claim First Friendly Win In Five Years

The Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded their first international friendly win in five years following a 3-2 win against the Mambas of Mozambique in Portugal on Monday.

The Nigerian team needed a victory after playing to a 2-2 tie with Saudi Arabia on Friday in order to improve morale going into the FIFA World Cup qualification that will begin in November.

The national team of Mozambique scored the first goal, but Terem Moffi was on hand to strike the equaliser in the 16th minute.

Nigeria took the lead after 27 minutes thanks to a goal from Frank Onyeka, and Moses Simon of Nantes FC made it 3-1 with a penalty kick.

Despite being down a man, the central African nation managed to cut the deficit in half in the second half, and the score ended up being 3-2.

The November 2026 World Cup qualifiers are when the Nigerian Super Eagles will next come together.
