Kenya Shabana were clearly ‘robbed’ by officials against Gor Mahia – Kerama

Shabana FC have maintained that they were ‘robbed’ against Gor Mahia in what they term as a ‘well-coordinated’ scheme among the match officials.

The Glamour Boys conceded an 89th-minute goal courtesy of Rooney Onyango to lose the FKF Premier League fixture dubbed “Nyanza derby” 1-0 moments after their defender Abisolom Aduda had seen red.

“Turning our attention to the match’s outcome, we maintain a firm belief that we did not suffer a defeat; instead, victory was unjustly denied to us. This conviction is supported by the conspicuous lack of professionalism and questionable coordination among the match officials, both on and off the pitch, which undeniably influenced the match’s result,” reads part of the statement from club Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama.

“The unwarranted issuance of multiple yellow cards to our team has raised significant concerns. For example, the yellow card given to our defender, Silas Shihemi, during a routine throw-in, raises questions. Additionally, the communication between the fourth referee and the central referee, resulting in an unjust red card for Absalom Aduda, continues to raise doubts.”

Meanwhile, Tore Bobe have apprehended an imposter who sold fake tickets to Gor Mahia and Shabana fans on Wednesday. It has yet to be established how much was collected from the derby.

“The club incurred substantial revenue losses due to the challenging circumstances surrounding the match. We are presently conducting an investigation to identify those individuals who may be responsible for these unfortunate circumstances,” said Kerama.

The Kisii-based Glamour Boys will next take on Bandari at Mbaraki Sports Club on Sunday.
