After a thrilling 4–4 tie against Chelsea on Sunday, Manchester City gained a point advantage at the top of the Premier League.
Erling Haaland scored twice for the City, but Cole Palmer, a former player, equalised the score in extra time with a penalty kick.
In the 24th minute, City took the lead after Marc Cucurella, a Spanish defender, tugged Haaland’s jersey, resulting in a VAR-checked penalty that the Norwegian skillfully converted.

Thiago Silva, a 39-year-old Brazilian defender for Chelsea, headed the ball into the goal five minutes later.
In the 37th minute, Reece James crossed the goal line thanks to a defensive blunder by Josko Gvardiol, and former City forward Raheem Sterling scored the winning goal.
However, Manuel Akanji, a defender, soared to head City’s equaliser in first-half injury time, cutting Chelsea’s lead to fewer than ten minutes.
A minute after the restart, Haaland scored his second goal, but Nicolas Jackson gave the home team a point in the 67th minute of a tense second half.
The champs appeared to have won it with a goal from Rodri in the 86th minute, but Palmer scored a penalty kick in the 94th to turn the lead back to them.
