Africa Soccer 2026 WCQ “Ghana were better than Comoros” – Chris Hughton

Chris Hughton

Ghana head coach Chris Hughton says the Black Stars deserved to beat Comoros on Tuesday after their loss in Moroni on 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers.

After a narrow 1-0 over Madagascar in Kumasi, Inaki Williams and teammates were off to a consecutive win but finally bowed to Comoros away.

Ghana did not put down a great performance to deserve the victory but Hughton insists that they were better than their opponents.

“In my opinion over the 90 minutes, we were the better team. I thought Ghana were the better team”, he said in his post-match press conference.

“This was not a game where Comoros won comfortably. Over the 90 minutes, we were the better team but unfortunately, we were not able to put away the chances that we created.”

Ghana is currently third of their Group with 4 points in 2 games while Comoros seat comfortably on top of standings followed by Mali.
