CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAFCC: Rivers United Suffer Defeat To Dreams FC At Baba Yara Stadium

Dreams FC defeated Nigerian team Rivers United at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday to record their first group stage win of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Dreams earned a well-deserved 2-1 victory to earn their first three points of the season, rallying from their opening-game loss against Club Africain.

The ‘Still Believe’ team needed goals from youthful talent Abdul Aziz Issah and seasoned striker John Antwi to secure the victory over the Nigerians.

When Dreams’ first effort on goal came in the 35th minute, the former Pyramids FC and Al Ahly SC midfielder masterfully headed home a cross from defender Eric Boateng.

Dreams scored the game’s second goal despite the Nigerians playing better in the second half.

After an outstanding team effort, the 18-year-old midfielder Issah increased the lead for the Ghanaian squad in the 74th minute.

A few moments later, the young star scored once more, but his effort was disqualified for offside.

When midfielder Alex Oyowah got the ball behind the back of the net in stoppage time, Rivers grabbed one back before the game was out.

Next Sunday, Dreams will journey to Angola to play Academica do Lobito in the next round.
