AFCON AFCON 2023: Equatorial Guinea To Play Djibouti In Friendly Game

Equatorial Guinea, the Super Eagles’ opponents at the AFCON 2023, will now play Djibouti in a friendly match as part of the build-up to the competition, which will be hosted by Ivory Coast starting on January 14.

Due to logistical issues, the friendly match between the Guineans and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon was canceled.

They will now play their match against Djibouti on January 9 in Malabo before flying out to compete in the tournament in the Ivory Coast.

Nigerian defender Marvin Anieboh was named in Equatorial Guinea’s final 27-man roster for the competition, which was recently released.

Equatorial Guinea made its AFCON debut in 2012 as co-hosts alongside Gabon. This will be their fourth trip to the tournament.

They have been drawn into Group A alongside Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Guinea-Bissau, and Côte d’Ivoire.
