During a friendly match between FBI Subang and FC Bandung which took place on Saturday afternoon at the Siliwangi Stadium in Bandung, West Java, player Septain Raharja was struck by lightning and died.

The 35-year-old did not die instantly and was rushed to hospital, according to local media PRFM News.

The other players on the field immediately came to help, the match having been interrupted.

The player was still breathing on the field until transported to hospital. Ultimately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Local media report that the weather was cloudy until the weather suddenly changed, causing lightning to arrive.
