CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAFCC:Rivers United Claim Narrow Win Against USM Algiers

Nigeria sole representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Rivers United, claimed a narrow 1-0 win over USM Algiers in a close match during the first leg at Uyo on Sunday.

Despite the host’s best efforts to take the lead with the whistle, the Algerian champs remained firm at the Goodswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo.

In the tenth minute, the Pride of Rivers took the lead thanks to a goal from Augustine Okejepha.

The Algerian side reduced the home team’s attacking threat in the second half by playing a defensive game.

The Nigerian team succeeded in winning the game 1-0, but they were unable to add any more goals.

The second leg will take place in Algiers the following weekend.

Rivers United will have to get a draw or refused to give a 2-goal margin in order to reach the semi final of the competition.
