Nigerian Players abroad Onyeka Scores As Brentford Compound Sheffield Woes

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka came off the bench to score his first Premier League goal for Brentford in their home victory over Sheffield United on Saturday.

Onyeka who has been instrumental to the Bees this season was not handed a starting place in the squad.

He however joined the fray in the 90th minute and scored in added time to help Brentford secure a 2-0 over rock-bottom Sheffield United and ended their winless run of nine Premier League games under coach Thomas Frank.

Mikkel Damsgaard of Brentford struck a shot at goal in the 63rd minute, but Oliver Arblaster of Sheffield United deflected it past his own custodian Ivo Grbic and into the net before Onyeka doubled the lead.

Additionally, Brentford had two attempts rejected due to a foul and offside.

With 32 points, Brentford jumped up to 14th place in the standings, ahead of Crystal Palace, who take on Liverpool on Sunday.

With five games remaining, they are seven points above the relegation zone.

Sheffield United, with 16 points, continued to be at the bottom of the table.
