Uncategorised Man City Thrash Relegation Bound Luton To Top Premier League

After destroying lowly Luton Town 5-1 on Saturday, Manchester City temporarily took the lead in the Premier League standings with to goals from Erling Haaland (20 goals this season) and Daiki Hashioka (own goal off his face).

With six games left in an intense three-way race for the title, Pep Guardiola’s team leads with 73 points, two points more than Arsenal and Liverpool, who may pass City if they win their respective games on Sunday.

Luton Town, who face relegation, are now in 18th place, one point outside of the safety zone.

After Jeremy Doku’s effort was diverted to Haaland, whose volley smacked heavily off poor Hashioka’s face and into the net, City took the lead within 70 seconds.

In the 64th minute, Mateo Kovacic increased City’s lead by winning the ball at the edge of the box and sending it into the upper corner.

After Doku was brought down in the 76th, Haaland scored from the penalty spot.

In the 84th minute, Ross Barkley took advantage of a mistake made by the City defence to equalise the score.

However, Doku’s goal into the far corner following a fantastic dribbling move made it 4-1.

Josko Gvardiol scored seconds before the final whistle to close out the one-sided match.
