CAF CONFEDERATION CUP CAFCC: Zamalek Ends Dreams FC Hope Of Reaching Final

Dreams FC’s remarkable CAF Confederation Cup adventure came to an end at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, when they were soundly defeated 3-0 by Egyptian superpower Zamalek.

Dreams went into the game with optimism despite the first leg’s goalless draw in Cairo, pressing forward forcefully at first.

But Zamalek’s long history of success stood out. In the twelfth minute, defender Hamza Mathlouthi of Zamalek scored from a corner kick, seizing their first meaningful opportunity.

Dreams struggled to regain their foothold after this early setback. Samson Akinyoola, a forward for Zamalek who is from Benin, increased the lead in the 27th minute with a spectacular goal.

Zamalek remained in complete control of the game, especially in the first half.

Mostafa Shalaby’s third goal in the second half gave them the victory.

Dreams FC players were obviously unhappy when the final whistle blew, but they can still be proud of themselves.

Being the first Ghanaian club to advance this far in a CAF interclub competition in 20 years, their run to the semi-finals was a historic accomplishment.

Great praise is deserved for their performance. Zamalek advances to the final and awaits the victor of the encounter between USM Alger and RS Berkane.
