The former Ajax winger was named Jose Peseiro’s successor in May.

Finidi was Peseiro’s assistant for 20 months.

His relegation meant that his year’s contract would be decreased, and his claimed monthly income of N15m would be reduced to N5 million.

The Super Eagles did not win any of their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa or Benin Republic.
