Africa UK : Nigerian Ideye sets heart on £9m Newcastle

Newcastle are among a number of Premier League clubs tracking Dynamo Kiev’s Nigeria international striker Brown Ideye.

Nigerian striker Brown Ideye is set for a move to the Barclays Premier League in the summer and has his heart set on Newcastle.

The £9million-rated player has had spells in Switzerland and France but is currently at Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev where goals in this season’s Champions League have attracted him to top clubs.

There is interest from Swansea, West Ham and Stoke, but the player’s agent revealed he wants a move to the North East.

‘There has been a lot of interest from English clubs, but Newcastle would be Brown’s preferred choice for a number of reasons,‘ said agent Hootan Ahmadi to Skysports.

‘They have a good fan-base and play an attacking style of football. He has good knowledge of the club and of the Premier League. Brown would love to test himself at that level.’

He cost Dynamo Kiev £7million from French side Sochaux two years ago and his stock has been boosted by winning the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria in January. He was twice man-of-the-match in the tournament.
