Europe Sturridge does not regret lining up for England despite injury

Daniel Sturridge scored twice for Liverpool v NewcastleLiverpool striker Daniel Sturridge played the entire 90 minutes as England lost 1-0 to Germany last week at Wembley despite the fact that he was battling with a dead leg.

The risk took by the Reds’ striker on his injury deprived him of Liverpool’s training sessions until Friday and cost him a start as Liverpool has drawn 3-3 against Everton on Saturday.

He was a late substitute who eventually came on to score a dramatic equalizer.

Liverpool boss Brenden Rodgers who blames his fitness on his lack of training in recent days said:

“There are maybe some games when he hasn’t played well and that has happened on the back of not training.”

But the England patriot responded:

“For me, regardless of what condition you are in, if you are selected by the manager of England you go out there and do the best you can, regardless of whether you are injured or not.

“The manager (Roy Hodgson) gave me that opportunity and it was a pleasure to put the England shirt on.

“Fit or not fit, you go out and do your best.”
