Attacked from all sides since its sponsorship to Idriss Diallo to the detriment of Didier Drogba, the AFI explains. Through the voice of its president, Cyrille Domoraud, the union assumes its choice. 

“Didier has never been present at the AFI (Ivorian Football Association). In 11 years, he only came once. And the second time, he met me for the elections.” declared the former defender of the Olympique de Marseille on Life TV.

“Three years ago, we approached Drogba to be our candidate but he refused saying he was not interested. It was when Sidy Diallo decided not to run again that he decided to run. It was already too late, we had already chosen our candidate… Didier’s project is individual… if I have him in front of me one day, I will tell him that I am sorry. But the choice had already been made,” added Domoraud.

Moreover, on Tuesday, the Fifpro Africa, of which AFI is a member, did not hide its indignation at this choice.

As for Didier Drogba, the last option is to obtain the sponsorship of the association of doctors. Or his dream of being elected at the head of the FIF will vanish.
