Nigerian Players abroad Ighalo Goal Drought Extends To Four Months

Odion Ighalo goal drought has extended to four months without finding the net as Manchester United reached the last eight of the Europa League.

Ighalo was handed a starting berth by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer for the third time since he joined the Red Devils on loan.

Having scored and contributed an assist in the 5-0 victory against LASK back in March, Ighalo was expected to add to his goal tally.

But he couldn’t find the net despite featuring from start to finish in the game.

Despite playing full 90 minutes, Ighalo managed just one shot on target four dribbles and 16 passes.

Goals from Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial helped Manchester United to qualify on 7-1 aggregate.

The former Watford forward last scored for the Red Devils in March against Norwich City in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Due to the push for UEFA Champions League qualification, he was not given much play time in the final games of the 2019-2020 Premier League season.

Having done so, the Reds will now head to Cologne on Monday to face FC Copenhagen for a spot in the last four.

The Danes take on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side after winning 3-1 on aggregate against Istanbul Basaksehir, having overturned a one-goal deficit from the first leg.
