Houssem Aouar has been handed his first call-up by France as Didier Deschamps included him in his 24-man list for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games. Algeria’s hope is then shattered.
The Fennecs had a slim chance of seeing the Lyon midfielder play for his home country. This dream vanished on Thursday after his summons to the France A team for the two Nations League matches in September.
Aouar will therefore represent France rather than Algeria. A logical call from the Blues since the 22-year-old has raised his level of play this season. Recently during the Final 8 in the Champions League, he was exceptional.
As a reminder, Houssem Aouar was born in Lyon in France to Algerian parents.
