Their opponent also missed a first half penalty when Wayde Lekay nonchalantly stepped up and side footed his 28th minute spot kick onto Daniel Akpeyi’s crossbar.

The final act of the first half saw Akpeyi come off his line and narrow the angle as he blocked an effort on goal from Lekay in the first half stoppage time, as the first half ended goalless.

Again Super Eagles goalie was called to action when Galaxy player Nyama took control of the ball before shooting from close range at Akpeyi with a powerfully driven shot, but  managed to block and palm away.

Chiefs have now gone two league games without a loss and picked up their first league points at home for the season, as they now turn their attention to Saturday’s MTN 8 Semifinal second leg against Orlando Pirates.

Their next game will be a herculean task against Orlando Pirates in the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal at FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Akpeyi and his teammates will be hoping to bounce back from a 3-0 deficit from the first leg.
