News Onyekuru’s brace help Galatasaray to victory against Gaziantep

Henry Onyekuru came off the bench to score a brace and helped Galatasaray claim a 2-1 win against Gaziantep at the Kalyon Stadium on Friday.

The Nigerian forward joined Galatasaray for the third time of loan after he struggled to get more playing time in Monaco.

Onyekuru, who entered the game at the beginning of the second half, opened his goal account with a brace at the 51st and 78th minutes.

After failing to score in the first half, Galatasaray manager made two substitution in the 46th minute as Akbaba and Younes Belhanda were removed from the play as Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Henry Onyekuru replaced them. 

In the 51 minutes, Ryan Babel through pass saw Onyekuru against the goalkeeper.

He made no mistake in putting the ball inside the net with his left foot.

However , the referee had to consult VAR for a possible offside before he awarded.

In the 79th minute,  Kerem Aktürkoğlu’s cross found Onyekuru against the goalkeeper with a perfect pass behind the defense. 

Gaziantep reduced the deficit in extra time as Maxim scored from the spot to make it 2-1

With this victory, Galatasaray started the second half of the league with a win and achieved a three-game winning streak. 

It also put an end to the undefeated streak of of Gaziantep.
