Foot Africa Former PSL Coach Insists That Molefi Ntseki Isn’t The Only One To Blame

South Africa will miss out on next year’s Africa Cup of Nations take place in Cameroon. This underperformance has cost Molefi Ntseki his job at the head of Bafana Bafana. But former Premier Soccer League (PSL) coach Muhsin Ertugral says SAFA appears to have no strategy. And he has come down hard on the motherbody, insisting that the lack of success for Bafana Bafana shouldn’t just be on Molefi Ntseki’s shoulders.

South Africa has a problem and it worries me. The first step is to get to the World Cup qualifications. But not making it to the Afcon was already a challenge. Without proper planning you can’t achieve anything. The next coach has to know the structure and know SAFA.” He told the Siya crew.

The product in the PSL is good. But off the field, it has to be better. The prospect is there. But it has to be turned into a machinery that produces results. Anyone from the foreign countries won’t help – in two months the qualifiers start.”

Carlos Queiroz is thought to be the front runner for the Bafana job, while several other names have also been thrown into the mix.

People at the helm must take those decision and not be naïve. Anywhere in the world you want to take that spot in the World Cup, it brings you value. The result against Sudan was heartbreaking to see. The PSL does not deserve that.” Ertugral, who is working as a technical advisor to the Turkish national team, said.

SAFA needs to get it right – you can bring the best coaches in the world, but without any back up and support, they will not succeed. It will be a mammoth task to get to the World Cup. But the boys that are doing well and want to be in the market (in Europe) have been let down.” He added.
