African players abroad Galatasaray Aiming At Signing Al Ahly Playmaker Mohamed Magdy Afsha

Galatasaray had terminated the contract of Younes Belhanda in the past few months. And the Turkish giants are planning to fill the void of the number 10 role in the team. For the purpose, they include Al Ahly playmaker Mohamed Magdy Afsha on their shortlist.

Afsha has been crucial for Al Ahly since joining the team in summer 2019. The 25-year-old has contributed to Al Ahly’s domestic triumphs like the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup.

But the biggest contribution the former Pyramids midfielder did was scoring the winner for Al Ahly against arch-rivals Zamalek in the 2020 Champions League final to bring the long-awaited ninth title home.

Reports have emerged in Turkey that Afsha could become a new teammate with Egypt striker Mostafa Mohamed soon. As Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray are interested in signing him.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Galatasaray are expected to make an attempt at the end of the season for Afsha. The latter who has a contract with Al Ahly until June 2024.

Afsha caught the attention of Galatasaray scouts during the period that Mostafa Mohamed was followed by the Red and Yellows, reports the Turkish source.

Afsha scored three goals and seven assists for Al Ahly across all competitions so far this season. On an international level, he has nine international caps for Egypt and two goals to his name.
