Dstv Premiership DSTV PREMIERSHIP : Phohlongo’s goal hands TS Galaxy win over Pirates

Orlando Pirates

Masilake Phohlongo’s first-half goal handed TS Galaxy a 1-0 win over 10-man Orlando Pirates in South Africa on Sunday.

The win saw Galaxy go eighth on the DStv Premiership log table whereas Pirates remain fourth.

The loss saw Pirates miss the chance to leapfrog Golden Arrows into third place. Arrows and Pirates have 46 points from 28 games each.

During the game, Pirates suffered a setback when Phohlongo got to the end of a long back before heading the ball past goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane.

Malawian striker Gabadinho Mhango nearly provided a response for Pirates but his effort hardly troubled Galaxy goalkeeper. The ball hit the frame.

The misery for Pirates became worse when they were reduced to 10 men.

Abel Mabaso was red carded for a second bookable offence after fouling Lindokuhle Mbatha.

Galaxy held on to the win.
