Tokyo 2020 Tokyo 2020 : Australia Vs Egypt – Game Preview And Team News

Australia meet the Egyptians on Wednesday as the squad faces Egypt in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 group tie at the Miyagi Stadium, Yokohoma. Game to kick off at 11:00 GMT.

The Olyroos will need a positive result against Egypt in their final Tokyo Olympics group match to have any chance of progressing to the knockout stage.

After a victory against Argentina and a draw versus Spain , Australia’s Olympic fate is still in their own hands – provided they get a point.

Only a win will be good enough for Egypt to possibly qualify, who will still need results to go their way to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

Australia will be without three starting players, Mitchell Duke, Riley McGree and Nathaniel Atkinson. The trio all received their second yellow card for the tournament against Spain.

However, Graham Arnold feels the squad has enough depth to cope with the absentees. And the likes of Nicholas D’Agostino, Reno Piscopo and Kye Rowles could get opportunities.

For the Pharaohs, the scenario is simple. Win or loose to say goodbye to the Olympics.

The Egyptians earned an admirable goalless draw against Spain in their opening match. But they went down by a single goal to Argenina in their second contest.

Egypt was unable to get Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah released for the tournament. Egypt’s squad features ex-West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi as their skipper and only player based outside of their home nation.

Winger Ramadan Sobhi played in the Premier League for Stoke City. But Aston Villa attacker Trezeguet is injured. Galatasaray on the other side refused to release Mostafa Mohamed.
