Premier League defending champions Manchester City have announced the contract extension of Portuguese centre-back Ruben Dias that will see him tied to the club until June 2027.

The 24-year emerge as one of the best defenders in the world after just one season with the Sky Blues he joined from Benfica Lisbon.

Dias has been named Manchetser City’s MVP last season thanks to his outstanduing performances and clearances throughout the season.

Recently, he has been named UEFA’s best defender of 2020/21 season during the Champions League draw in Lisbon.

Dias is one of the players City boss Pep Guardiola labelled as ‘untouchable’ and played a great role for his contract extension.

“Ruben Dias has signed a new six-year contract with Manchester. Having joined from Benfica last September, Dias’ new deal will keep him at the Club through until the summer of 2027”, Man City announced on Monday morning.

“I’m very happy to sign the new deal. I have enjoyed every single minute of my time at City since joining last year”, Dias told City’s media department after signing his contract

“Playing for City has surpassed all my expectations and it’s an absolute pleasure to be part of such an incredible squad.

In addition, Ruben Dias made 50 appearances across all competitions with Manchester City and scored once.
