Qatar 2022 Egypt, Angola kick-start qualifying race for World Cup finals

Egypt will host Angola in a World Cup second round qualifying match at Air Defence Stadium on Wednesday night.

Coach Hassam El-Badri has summoned top players such as Al Ahly goalkeeper El Shanawy and striker Mohamed Sherif.

However, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed El Neny and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah have been ruled out of the match due to travel restrictions in the United Kingdom in view of Covid-19.

El-Badri hopes that El Neny and Salal will avail themselves for the away game in Gabon on Friday.

Egypt are unbeaten in the last five matches they have played in all competitions whereas Angola have in the last five matches lost thrice, won once and drawn also once.

Angola coach Pedro Gonçalves will bank on Portugal-based goalkeeper Aldo Monteiro “Kadú, with defenders Bartolomeu Quissanga “Bastos, Inácio Santos, Jonathan Buatu, Núriu Fortuna set for starting roles.

João Fortes “Batxi” and Valdomiro Lameira “Estrela” will lead the midfield to provide supplies to strikers Fábio Abreu, Manuel Afonso, Nelson da Luz and
Vladimiro Félix “Go”.

Afonso should have more insight about Angola as he plays for newly crowned Egyptian Premier League champions Ismaily.
