COSAFA Sundowns, Rhinos Queens to fight for CAF Women’s Champions League finals slot

South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns will meet Black Rhinos Queens of Zimbabwe in the Cosafa final for the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifier on Saturday.

Rhino Queens booked their spot in the final after beating Double Ladies Action of Botswana 2-0 on Thursday at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.

Mavis Chirandu and Marjory Nyaumwe scored for the Zimbabweans to send Double Action packing in the semifinal match.

In the second semifinal match played later on Thursday at the same venue, Sundowns edged out Green Buffaloes from Zambia 1-0.

Melinda Kgadiete scored the solitary strike of the game close to half-time to see Sundowns through and condemn the Zambians back home.

It was Kgadiete’s fifth goal of the seven-team tournament, effectively making her the Golden Boot Award favourite.

Now the Cosafa champion will qualify for the Champions League finals scheduled for Egypt later this year.

Champions for other CAF zones will join the Cosafa best at the finals.
