FIFA World Cup Mozambique coach recalls Baroka midfielder Kambala

Mozambique coach Horácio Gonçalves has recalled South Africa’s Baroka FC midfielder Manuel Kambala to the Mambas’ 26-member squad.

Mozambique will take on Cameroon in back-to-back Group D World Cup qualifiers next month.

Gonçalves’ decision to summon the hardworking Kambala comes after Mozambique started the Africa qualifying race for the Qatar 2022  World Cup with a 0-0 draw against Cote d’Ivoire and 1-0 loss to Malawi earlier this month.

Mozambique will travel to Yaounde to take on Cameroon on October 8 before hosting the Indomitable Lions up North in Morocco four days later.

The coach announced the squad on Friday when he also summoned back Edson Ditto “Mexer” of Bordeaux in France and David Malembane of Locomotiv Plovdiv in Bulgaria.

The squad of home-based players is expected in camp on Sunday and they will depart for Cameroon on October 6.
