Sierra Leone coach John Keister has described their brave goalless draw against Africa champions Sierra Leone as a benchmark to gauge their progress in international football.

Sierra Leone held the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions in the Group E match on Tuesday afternoon at Japoma Stadium in Cameroon.

In a post-match interview with CAF media, Keister said they fought hard for the one point.

I said when I came that, we as a nation, for us it is about the transition, the growing and obviously, it is about bringing us to see where we are at,” the 51-year-old said.

“We want to be going to this competition every two years. We don’t want to be going every 25 years, so today it is the benchmark of where we are at and how much work we need to do to go forward.”
