South Africa’s Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has named eight foreign-land based players in her squad for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifying match against Algeria on Friday.

Spain-based striker Thembi Kgatlana, who plays for Atletico Madrid, is among the foreign-land based players in the squad.

Other overseas-based players in the squad are Hildah Magaia (Moron BK, Sweden), Lebogang Ramalepe (Dinamo Minsk, Belarus), Karabo Dhlamini (Oakland University, USA), Noko Matlou (SD Eibar, Spain), Refiloe Jane (AC Milan, Italy), Nomvula Kgoale (Parquesol CD, Italy), Linda Motlhalo (Djurgarden, Sweden) and Kholosa Biyana (Sporting de Gijon, Spain).

Ellis has strengthened the squad for the first-leg game at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg after her charges lost 3-0 away in Zambia in warm-up match played on Saturday.

South African Football Association website reports youngster Asanda Radebe from Sunflower FC has been called up to replace injured Noxolo Cesane in the squad.

Banyana Banyana will travel to Algiers for the second leg match on February 23.

South Africa and Algeria are gunning for a place at the Nations Cup finals scheduled for Morocco in July this year.
