Soudan Al Hilal coach reflects on morale boosting win ahead of Al Merrikh clash

Al Hilal coach Joao Mota has described his team’s 3-0 win over Hilal Al-Abyad in the Sudanese Premier League match on Monday as a perfect morale boaster.

The Portuguese mentor said this in a post-match interview while looking ahead to the CAF Champions League group stage assignment against domestic rivals Al-Merrikh on Friday.

 “The pitch of our match against Hilal Al-Abyad did not help us, it was very difficult, but despite that we succeeded in the task,” he is quoted saying.

Joao added that he would prepare his charges thoroughly, including on aspects of nutrition ahead of the Champions League game.

“We will take care of many aspects, such as feeding the players well, such as nutrition and getting the required amount of rest,” he said.

Hilal are seeking to revive their Champions League campaign that has faltered following two defeats and one draw to remain bottom with one points.

Mamelodi Sundowns lead the table on seven points followed by holders Al Ahly and Al Merrikh on four points apiece.

On Tuesday, Al Hilal won the domestic league game through goals from Muhammad Abdul Rakhman in the fourth minute, Salah Adel (37th minute) and Yasser Muzammil (88th minute).

The win took Al Hilal to 13 points on second-place at par on points with leaders Hilal Alsahil with each team having played eight games each.

Hilal Al-Abyad are on position seven with seven points from seven games.
