Liverpool We Were Not Smart Enough Against Inter Milan-Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his players were not smart enough against Inter Milan in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League game.

The Reds were defeated 1-0 by the Nerazzurri courtesy of a Lautaro Martinez goal, but could not prevent Liverpool from advancing to the quarter finals.

Klopp while speaking after the game said his side were not strong enough in the challenges against the visitors.

You have to move a lot against teams like Inter, and pass a lot.

“We did, but maybe not enough.

“We were not smart enough.

“Then in the challenges we were not strong enough.

“We lost a lot of simple balls, which can happen.
.”The counter-press was not really there.

“We were around challenges but not in challenges and we didn’t get the momentum, that’s what we were lacking tonight.”

“It was a very interesting game.

“In the end we lost the game which obviously is not cool, we didn’t come here to lose a home game.

“Again, respect to the opponent who caused us a lot of problems.

“If we took our chances tonight, then we win this game.

“We didn’t but we are through, and that’s the main target.”

“The difficulties we had were pretty close to what I expected.

“Inter are a really, really good side, set up for these kind of games.

“Without playing brilliantly we had clear-cut chances.

“Over the two legs it’s completely fine that they won one and we went through.

“We could’ve done better against an opponent that makes life uncomfortable.”
