Premier League Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea react to UK Government sanctions

Chelsea Football Club reacted to the sanctions imposed on them and the club’s ongoing Chairman Roman Abramovich buy UK Government earlier on Thursday.

The United Kingdom Government decided to sanction Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich for having “close relationship for decades” with Russia president Vladimir Putin and many other accusations.

Following the announcement, Chelsea release a statement in which the club expressed its will to meet with UK Government in order to discuss.

“We will fulfil our men’s and women’s team fixtures today against Norwich and West Ham, respectively, and intend to engage in discussions with the UK Government regarding the scope of the licence”, Chelsea statement reads.

“This will include seeking permission for the licence to be amended in order to allow the Club to operate as normal as possible.

“We will also be seeking guidance from the UK Government on the impact of these measures on the Chelsea Foundation and its important work in our communities.”
