Soudan Flames star resumes Al Hilal training ahead of Sundowns clash

Malawian winger Gerald Phiri Junior has resumed light training at Al Hilal Omdurman in Sudan.

Al Hilal have confirmed that the former Baroka FC player had resumed light training ahead of the CAF Champions League Group A  meeting against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday afternoon.

Gerald begins individual training in preparation for joining the team. He undergoes treatment sessions under the supervision of the medical unit,” Al Hilal tweeted in Arabic.

The Flames player earlier told Africa Top Sports that he missed last week’s home game against Al Merreikh due to a hamstring injury.

Al Hilal won the game 1-0 to go level on four points with Al Ahly and Al Merreikh and six points behind leaders Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Sundowns will leave South Africa for Sudan on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Sudanese health authorities have allowed 25 000 fans to watch the encounter at Al Hilal Stadium in Khartoum.
