Nigeria NPFL: Ayeni Confident Of Positive Result Against Rivers United

Akwa United new manager Ayodeji Ayeni has expressed confidence of picking a positive result against Rivers United ahead of the restart of the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL).

Ayeni was unveiled to take over as the Promise Keepers new coach during the mid season break.

Speaking ahead of the crucial NPFL Matchday 20 against league leaders Rivers United, Ayeni also shared his goals for the club.

He said, “My coming to Akwa United is a fresh challenge and a new beginning for me as a coach.

“I have spent one week with my players and I’m happy with the energy and the hard work we have put into the team within this short period of time.

“For us to have a successful title defense and also secure one of the continental tickets which is our primary target in the remaining 19 matches, we have to hit the ground running starting with this weekend’s game against Rivers United.

“I’m happy with the level of determination I have seen from both the old players and the new ones we have brought in.

“The calibre of players we have are capable of winning games and I’m confident that we will have a positive result against Rivers United on Saturday”.

Ayeni has officially taken charge of his new team after signing a one season contract with the reigning Champions.

Coach Ayeni joined the Promise Keepers last week from Sunshine Stars and was unveiled to the fans, stakeholders and the media community on Thursday.

Coach Ayeni took charge of his first training session on Monday morning at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium after being introduced to the technical crew and the players of the team by the club boss Elder Paul Bassey.

Coach Ayodeji Ayeni who came with his assistant, coach Ebenezer Atayero has announced that the team will have two training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday as they continue to prepare for their match-day 20 game against Rivers United this weekend at the Nest of Champions.
