Falcons, the reigning African champions, will use the two games to prepare for the CAF women’s AFCON, which will be held in Morocco in July.
The women’s AFCON also serves as a qualifier for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which Australia and New Zealand will co-host.

Since their first meeting in the group stage of the 1995 women’s World Cup in Sweden, the Falcons and the Canadians will meet for the fourth time.

The Falcons pulled back from a 3-1 deficit to force a 3-3 draw in their first meeting 27 years ago, but it wasn’t enough to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

The Falcons’ first goal came from Rita Nwadike, who made it 2-1 before Canada went up 3-1.

The Falcons earned their first ever point at the women’s World Cup thanks to goals from Patience Avre and Adaku Okoroafor.

Both countries faced again in the World Cup group stage, this time in the 2011 tournament, which was hosted by Germany.

The Falcons defeated Canada 1-0 in their last group game after losing their first two games to France (1-0) and Germany (1-0).

Perpetual Nkwocha scored the game-winning goal with six minutes remaining to give the Falcons a positive finish to their 2011 World Cup campaign.

The two teams last played in a friendly match in 2019, which the Canadians won 2-1.

Desire Oparanozie scored the game’s first goal in the 27th minute, before Janine Beckie and Sophie Schmidt scored in the 47th and 53rd minutes, respectively, to give Canada its first win over the Falcons.
