Canada Super Falcons Holds Olympic champions, Canada To 2-2 Draw

Super Falcons wrapped up their two legged international friendly against the Canadian Women national team with a 2-2 draw at Langford.

Having lost 2-0 in the first leg at Vancouver, Randy Waldrum and his lads produced an excellent performance against the reigning Olympic champions.

The Falcons got off to a fast start, taking the lead in the fifth minute thanks to Ifeoma Onumonu’s stunning back footed attempt from a setpiece.

Chiamaka Nnadozie was called into action in the 18th minute, making a fantastic stop to hold the score at 1-0.

On 28 minutes, the Canadians continued to push forward and were almost rewarded, but Ashleigh Plumptre made a goal-line clearing before Ajibade completed the clearance.

Janine Beckie was denied by Nnadozie’s fantastic save on 32 in the 32nd minute.

Nnadozie was called into action again three minutes later, this time to prevent Desiree Scott from grabbing an equaliser.

Despite the Canadians’ best attempts, the Falcons held on to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Uchenna Kanu almost extended the Falcons’ advantage early in the second half, but the Canadian goalkeeper saved her shot.

Christine Sinclair lobbed the ball over Nnadozie after Onome Ebi was dispossessed of the ball off a pass from the Falcons goalie on 49 minutes.

However, in the 53rd minute, Ajibade’s intended cross found its way into the net, putting the Falcons back in ahead.

Canada came close to equalising, but Sinclair’s attempt sailed over the crossbar.

On 88 minutes, Canada’s perseverance paid off as Shelina Zadorsky’s header from a cross beat the outstanding Nnadozie to tie the game up at 2-2.
