News Three female footballers injured in Zambia road accident

Three players for Trident Queens women’s football club suffered injuries when a team bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident in Zambia on Sunday afternoon.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed that 18-year old Lontinah Kipende, Lillian Kasongo (19 years) and Susan Changachanga (18 years old) suffered the injuries along Mutanda- Mwinilunga Road near Mutanda Junction at around 1:40pm.

The players are admitted to Lumwana Hospital with several degrees of injuries.

Club General Secretary Moses Simukonda told FAZ that their team bus had 24 passengers on board when it was hit by another car, whose driver lost its control in an overtake gone wrong.

The team from Kalumbila District of North Western Province was returning from a match in Manyinga where they had played a play-off game the previous day.
