News Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United frustrates Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was left frustrated by the 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League match on Thursday evening.

The German mentor watched in frustration as the Blues failed to translate their dominance into goals.

In the end, Chelsea, for the point, needed Marcos Alonso’s strike which Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled out for United.

In a post-match interview, Tuchel could not hide his disappointment.

“I’m a little bit frustrated,” he told Chelsea website.

“We were very strong on and off the ball. Very dominant. A lot of ball wins, a lot of deliveries, a lot of half-chances, a lot space around the box, but unfortunately we lacked precision and determination in the box to finish it off.”

“When we had it [the lead], we gave it away it one minute later, so it started all over again, but the reaction was good. I’m very happy with the performance. It was a huge team effort and we showed what it needs to win in a big stadium on a big stage, on a focus level, on a physical input level.”

Chelsea featured Senegal goalkeeper Eduardo Mendy and he turned out to be the only African on the pitch.

The Blues have 66 points and lie third on the log table, six points ahead of fourth placed Arsenal with the prospect of European football in sight.

United are on position six with 55 points and have played two games more than fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur who have 58 points and Arsenal.
