Burkina Faso WAFU B U-17: Burkina Faso Puts Stubborn Niger To The Sword

Burkina Faso avoided Niger threat to claim victory in their opening game of the WAFU B U17 tournament in Cape Coast, Ghana on Sunday.

Following the first game played on Sunday that saw Benin bounced back to defeat Cote d’Ivoire, the Burkinabe put up an excellent performance against their opponents.

Both teams did not failed to maintain the early goal norm that has heralded the tournament as Ousmane Kamara netted the opener for Burkina Faso just six minutes of play.

The goal brought out the best in both teams, although the Burkinabe enjoyed more of the possession, Niger gave them a hard fight.

The minute came when Niger finally took their chances having missed some goal scoring opportunity as Ibrahim Mansouru leveled for Niger.

Both teams kept searching to take the lead it could not as they headed to the first half 1-1.

The second half saw Burkina Faso settled down and retook the lead nine minutes into the second half through Appilinaire Buogma.

The goal proved to be what separated both side as Burkina Faso held on to the lead throughout the game.

Niger would be hoping to get it right when they play against Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday while Burkina Faso and Benin will slug it out on Tuesday.

The finalists of this tournament automatically gets a slot in the u17 AFCON thereby serving as a means of qualification for the u17 world cup.
