South Africa’s Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has named her final 23-member squad for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco next month.
Banyana Banyana will depart for Morocco on Wednesday after a final training session in Johannesburg.
Last week, Ellis released five players from camp training underway in Johannesburg.
The release of Rhoda Mulaudzi, Reitumetse Chabana, Lonathemba Mhlongo (injured), Cimone Sauls and Lelona Daweti reduces the squad to 26 players.
Ellis further trimmed the squad at a press conference held at SAFA House on Monday.
Linda Motlhalo for Djurgardens in Sweden and Hildah Magaia for Sejong Sportstoto in South Korea are yet to join the team as the seasons in the two countries are underway.
Banyana Banyana are in the same group with fellow favourites Nigeria, minnows Burundi and Botswana at the continental event scheduled for the cities of Rabat and Casablanca.
