Africa Soccer Uganda’s Crested Cranes coach names WAFCON final squad

Uganda senior women’s football team coach George Lutalo has unveiled a final 26-member squad for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals.

The Crested Cranes coach announced the final squad on Tuesday ahead of the tournament scheduled for Morocco next month.

The final squad comprises three goalkeepers, including skipper Ruth Aturo, seven defenders, six midfielders and ten forwards.

Lutalo told Uganda FA website he was happy with the preparations for the continental showpiece.

We had smooth preparations since last year. We played COSAFA and recently CECAFA where the team emerged Champions. I believe these tournaments have helped us to get the Skelton of the team and I’m confident the final squad named will help us attain the set targets,” he said.

Uganda will leave for Morocco on Wednesday Morning for a 10-day training camp in Marrakesh.

Uganda are in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Burkina Faso and Senegal.

The continental football showpiece will run from July 2 to 23 in Rabat and Casablanca.
