Nigeria Ndidi Resumes Training With Leicester City Ahead Of Season Restart

Wilfred Ndidi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles and Leicester City, has reportedly healed from the knee injury that prevented him from playing for his club or the national team, according to his club.

Ndidi suffered the injury in March while playing for Leicester City against French team Rennes in the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa Conference League. Ndidi attempted to tackle Rennes forward Gaetan Laborde.

Due to the injury, he was forced to miss a number of important matches, including Nigeria’s doubleheader against Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup African qualifying playoffs.

The UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinal and semifinal matches between PSV and Roma were also missed by Ndidi’s team, Leicester City.

Ndidi’s return to practice was announced by the Foxes via their Twitter account.

“Back with the squad. Looking good out there, @Ndidi25,” the Tweet reads.

A video of Ndidi working out with his Leicester City teammates during preseason practice is posted alongside the tweet.

Despite the injury, Ndidi played 31 times for Leicester City last season across all competitions, with one assist and two goals.

With 52 points from 38 games, the Foxes placed 10th in the 2021–2022 Premier League.
